When my daughter chose to join Scouts BSA in December 2019, I decided I would use my Scouting experience to volunteer for the troop. It's a new troop, so I asked them what their greatest need was, and they suggested Assistant Scoutmaster, so here I am.

Scouting Career History

In 1986, my little brother joined Cub Scouts, and I wanted to as well (didn't want to be left out). We joined Pack 485 in Seminole, Fla. I was in 5th grade so I joined as a Webelos Scout. I earned the Aleph Award youth religious award while a Webelos Scout and earned the Arrow of Light award in May 1987. After graduating from the pack, I crossed over into Boy Scouts by joining Troop 340.

I joined Troop 340 of Seminole Fla. in June 1987. I earned my first 3 merit badges that summer at Camp Soule summer camp, before even earning the rank of Tenderfoot. That fall, I was selected as Assistant Patrol Leader of my patrol. During the summer of 1988, I was elected Assistant Senior Patrol Leader

1989 was a busy year for me. In August, I joined the West Central Florida Council contigent to the 1989 National Scout Jamboree as a member of the Beach Patrol. In September, I was elected Senior Patrol Leader of Troop 340. In November, I earned the Ner Tamid youth religious award. I attended Junior Leader Training in 1990 and served as the troop's Senior Patrol Leader for about two years. In 1994, I went before the Board of Review and Earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

In 1992, I was on staff for summer camp at Sand Hill Scout Reservation. I taught Cooking and Orieneteering merit badges.

in 1988, I was elected by my troop to join the Order of the Arrow and was called out during summer camp at Camp Soule. I completed my Ordeal in September 1988 to become a member of Timuquan Lodge 340. I sealed my membership in Order of the Arrow through Brotherhood membership in September 1992. For the 1992-1993 lodge year, I served as Publications Chairman, publishing The Eagle newsletter quarterly.
